DUNCAN James has told of a bitter rift with Ziggy after he ditched their boyband to join Blue.
Duncan who lived at Ziggy’s parents’ house while they sought fame as teens in V5, said: “We were really close. But when I got to be in Blue, he got p****d off. He was jealous that I went on to Blue and left V5 behind. We didn’t talk for years later. But V5 was a disaster. We were going nowhere and everything was falling apart. It was a mess.
“He was jealous that I went on to a band who had so much success.”
Before the row Duncan, 29, needed a place to stay, so he moved into the spare room at Ziggy’s parents’ house.
He said: “At the time we were really young and didn’t have much money.
“I needed to be nearer to London to be close to the boys. So I stayed in Ziggy’s parents’ house.
“His family were lovely people, they really looked after me.”
V5 were finally forced to split up when bandmate Luke overdosed on drugs and was found dead in his flat.
Speaking about it for the first time, Duncan said: “It was two years after I left that I heard that Luke had died.
“He was gay and got mixed up with the wrong crowd who were into drugs. I was totally shocked.”
Duncan and Ziggy, 26, made amends recently after bumping in to each other in a London club.
And now he is backing his former pal to win Big Brother.
Duncan, who stars as Billy Flynn in Chicago from next month, said: “We had a chat and made up. It was nice to see him. A long time has passed since all that stuff — we’ve grown up and moved on with our lives now.”
He added: “If Big Brother is what he wants to do then good on him.
“I’ve always thought it could be dangerous for your career.
“But he’s a cool young guy I’m sure he’ll do really well.”
