KYLIE Minogue is to appear at this summer’s Princess Diana memorial gig.
It is a massive boost to the July 1 show — organised by Princes William, 24, and Harry, 22 — which had been criticised for failing to attract enough big name stars.
A pop insider said: “We’re just signing off some details, but it all looks good.”
Kylie’s appearance at the new Wembley Stadium will be her biggest since her brave fightback from breast cancer last year.
The Aussie superstar, 38, returns to the UK after performing sell-out gigs in Manchester and Wembley Arena in January — just 18 months after having surgery. Insiders say Kylie has not yet decided whether she will sing at the gig or introduce other acts.
She will share the stage with comic Ricky Gervais, 45, and boyband Take That — who both signed up to appear yesterday.
Organisers are still asking Hollywood A-listers, such as Reese Witherspoon, 31, to introduce pop acts like Lily Allen, 21, Rod Stewart, 62, and rapper Kanye West.
And for the first time since Diana’s funeral ten years ago, Sir Elton John, 60, has said he will perform his Candle in the Wind tribute, as The Sun revealed last week.
The signings come after weeks of speculation that the concert was being overshadowed by the Live Earth gig a week later.
The climate change concert, organised by former-US Vice President Al Gore, already boasts a mix of newer acts — such as Bloc Party and Snow Patrol — as well as big names like Genesis, Madonna and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
A crowd of 62,000 is expected to watch the Diana concert. It runs for five hours and will feature video clips of the late Princess of Wales.
Tens of thousands will watch it outdoors on giant BBC screens across Britain.
Millions more will tune in over 140 countries. Demand for tickets has been huge. Last Saturday 10,000 tickets were sold out in 20 MINUTES. More go on sale later.
The princes, who will also appear on stage, said they were grateful to all who bought tickets.
A Clarence House spokeswoman said: “The demand has been high.” The Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla are not expected to attend.
MORE than 4,000 fans of Kylie’s old show Neighbours signed an online petition to keep it on the BBC. Telly chiefs could end its 21- year deal with the Aussie soap after makers tripled the price from £25,000 per episode. http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2007150003-2007200140,00.html
