DAVID Beckham will star at the Princess Diana concert, we can reveal.
The England soccer star has been invited as a special guest of Princes William and Harry.
And he will introduce one of the highest profile acts — probably Sir Elton John or Take That.
Beckham’s appearance will be one of his last in Britain before he moves to California to play for LA Galaxy.
A source said the final details of what he would do at the Wembley concert on July 1 were still being worked out.
But the insider added: “This works well for both parties. Beckham, 32, is an extremely high-profile character and his popularity has been likened to that of Diana before she died.
“He’s like the People’s King, and the Princes are delighted he can be involved.
“And for Beckham, it is excellent exposure for him in America right before his move to LA.”
The concert is being arranged by Wills, 24, and Harry, 22, as a tribute to their mum on what would have been her 46th birthday.
Money raised will go to her favourite charities.
Brit film stars Sienna Miller and Clive Owen will also introduce acts.
The latest star to confirm is Fergie, lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas.
Rod Stewart, Lily Allen, Duran Duran, Tom Jones and P Diddy have also agreed to perform.
Anastacia, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Donny Osmond and Jason Donovan will perform a special musicals medley by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Lee Mead, last week’s winner of BBC1 Joseph show Any Dream Will Do, is also lined up.
The next batch of 5,000 tickets are being sold from today by Ticketmaster on 0844 725 0107.
